In 2005, SHRM Hawaii launched an initiative entitled Workplace Excellence, which focused on students,
employees and managers
to improve the overall workplace capabilities of Hawaii. Since 2006, Metrus Group has been privileged to partner with SHRM Hawaii in addressing the overall
contribution that employees make to the workplace — and valuing the employees who create that contribution. That year, the first Workplace Excellence was conducted.
The survey model that SHRM Hawaii selected is People Equity — the integration of alignment, capabilities and engagement to
create a high-performance workplace with high employee retention.
In 2008, SHRM Hawaii, through a grant provided by the State of Hawaii Department of Labor, and in partnership with the Honolulu Advertiser, made available to all companies in Hawaii the second Metrus Group People Equity survey. Each company received its own report
aimed at helping to improve employee performance — and hence, customer outcomes. In addition, a series of training programs was developed by
Metrus to help companies better understand and use the survey results. These programs were delivered many times by SHRM Hawaii trainers.

This program would not be possible without the tireless volunteer efforts of the SHRM Hawaii leaders. In particular, Metrus
would like to recognize Stevette Santiago, Anna Elento-Sneed, Signe Godfrey, Leona Christiansen and Melissa Pavlicek for
their dedication to this project!
