People Equity™ Training: Improving Your Return on Human Capital:

The Challenge

people equity trainingAre you getting maximum return from your human capital investment? If not, what actions can you—and others in your organization—take to leverage your people assets to produce greater financial results?

People Equity™  is an integrated approach to diagnosing, planning, and execution, focused on the human side of an enterprise. It zeroes in on three critical human performance factors: Alignment, Capabilities, and Engagement (ACE). It pinpoints deficiencies in these areas and clears a pathway for corrective action against business outcomes.

Data does not solve problems. People do. The People Equity Management Training System (PEMTS) provides a disciplined, measurable approach that equips managers with an understanding of how to increase the impact of people investments, and where to channel their scarce resources and energy to drive up performance and increase their personal success.

And Metrus Group guarantees results.

The proven power of people equity

Here’s what organizations have achieved:

  • High financial performance
  • Higher retention of top performing employees—worth millions to many firms
  • High customer loyalty
  • Greater, measurable growth in their organization’s human capital
  • Stronger management capabilities, leading to increased productivity
Flexible Training Approach for Rapid Results

The PEMTS is divided into four half-day modules.

  • The Overview Module provides a greater understanding of the concept of People Equity™ and the relationship between the three key elements: Alignment, Capabilities, and Engagement.
  • Three ACE modules, each of which focuses on one of the dimensions, the organizational symptoms of low scores in the respective area, and actions that can improve outcomes.

Choose the module or modules that will have the most value for your organization.

Results in Action

Recent research by Metrus and Quality Progress magazine (May, 2005) documents the connection of People Equity to business performance.  The firms that were top in people equity had a 65% probability of being in the top third of their industry in financial performance, compared to only 37% for low people equity firms.  The cost of turnover, alone across the average sized firm in the study was over $15 million.  Most CEOs find these differences in bottom line performance worth addressing.

A large global heath care organization received above average scores for Alignment, Capabilities, and Engagement, but upon drilling below the enterprise level, realized that its managers varied dramatically in their ability to achieve high returns on their human capital investment.  While some managers were great in managing Alignment, they struggled with Engagement; for others, Capabilities management was a strength while their ability to manage alignment floundered.  In this organization alone, we found engagement scores that varied from less than 20 to more than 90 on a 100 point scale.  Clearly, one-sized-fits-all engagement training was not the solution needed for this group of managers.

And this organization is not unusual.  Buried in most organizations are widely different profiles of managers—strengths in one area of people equity coupled with weaknesses in another.  The best organizations are able to raise the overall people equity bar across a large percentage of their managerial cadre. What most organizations find refreshing is an approach to managerial skill building that zeroes in on the weakest skill area, thereby enhancing human capital and building stronger bench strength of future leaders.
