The Need

Effective people management is a key to achieving business objectives. For an organization to reach its goals, employees must understand how they support the business strategy, be committed to achieving strategic objectives, understand how their activities support achievement of these objectives, and be provided with the incentives, resources, and tools they need to perform effectively. And organizations must understand the impact of their people management policies and practices on their ability to reach their business objectives.

The organization needs ongoing feedback on how it is managing its people so it can identify and close performance gaps with speed and precision, investing the right resources at the right time rather than shot-gunning initiative after initiative in hopes that something will hit the mark.

Metrus Group Survey Products

Metrus Group survey products are built on a strong experience base in both organizational surveys and strategic performance measurement. They combine targeted strategic people measurement with state-of-the information gathering and analytic tools. Products include:
  • Strategic Employee Surveys. Metrus Group's core survey product is an employee survey that begins with dialogue with senior management to identify key people issues and their impact on business objectives. These issues are translated into a targeted set of survey questions grounded in strategy. With non-biasing methods, results are analyzed to identify the organization's key strengths and performance gaps, and are presented to senior management. A senior management priority setting session is used to identify the one to three issues for action that will have the greatest impact on achievement of business objectives.
  • Linkage Analysis. Employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, and financial performance are linked. But the specific relationships between people issues and key business outcomes vary from organization to organization. Metrus Group uses statistical modeling tools to link people measures, customer measures, financial performance, and other measures of business performance such as product and service quality, safety, and internal customer satisfaction. Our modeling tools enable you to select for action the people issues that will have the greatest impact on business performance, and to estimate the impact that improvement on these issues will have.
  • Action Planning. Effective implementation of change is the key to making business measurement work. Starting with senior management and cascading down through the organization, Metrus Group uses its proven facilitation tools to help the organization identify the most important issues for action and to develop action plans to address them. Metrus facilitates action-planning sessions and trains internal staff in the skills needed to conduct action-planning in-house.
  • Pulse Surveys. Short, focused surveys, often delivered via the Internet, are ideal tools for assessing progress in improvement efforts on an issue either across the organization or in a specific unit or department. Metrus works with management to develop and deploy these surveys to provide instant feedback on pressing issues.
  • Alignment and Accountability Audit. The Alignment and Accountability Audit is a short web-based survey that provides a quick, cost-effective diagnostic on employees' understanding of strategy, their awareness of how their work supports it, the effectiveness of performance feedback and reward systems in targeting employee efforts, and the extent to which people are held accountable for reaching their goals. The audit is a cost-effective tool for identifying gaps in communications and performance management systems.
  • Internal Customer Surveys. The service that departments and units in the organization provide to each other have a significant impact on the quality of service that the organization provides to its key clients, customers, and markets. Metrus Group internal customer surveys combine targeted sampling that identifies each unit's key internal customers with modules custom-tailored to measure each unit's service. Results are fed back to unit management in a concise fashion that enables them to set action priorities for service improvement. This tool is also highly effective for helping shared services units assess the value or ROI of their services to their customers.
